Comparing the ComeBeCool cooling backpack with a standard cooling jacket

Both are cooling with ice packs, why?

Ice packs can store the “cold” we need. Creating this “cold” from a battery would be at high cost and extra-weight. Keeping ice packs a few hours in a freezer is simple and maintenance-free.

But the difficult part is transferring this “cold” from the ice packs to your body! Let’s see first the limitations of the standard cooling jacket.

Limitations of the standard cooling jacket

Typically, cooling jackets will have pockets to store some ice packs (cold packs) or bags of phase-change material (PCM). And the ice (or the PCM) is absorbing heat when it melts.

The jacket must be tightly fastened against your body, but with limitations:

    • Too far (or too much insulated) from the skin and you are not cooled enough,
    • Too close to the skin (or not insulated enough) and you feel an unpleasant cold burn.
    • The jacket is attracting moisture / “dew” and you can end up being wet.
    • It does not allow natural perspiration / free air circulation.

And one must wait for the “cold” to slowly come to the skin, while a significant part of this “cold” is being lost to the hot environment.

Advantages of the ComeBeCool cooling backpack

“Wow! This is true cooling!” could be your feeling when changing from a simple cooling jacket to the ComeBeCool cooling backpack.

Instead of being passive, the ComeBeCool cooling backpack blows cold air (and your mind?) directly where it is needed: near your skin, not to the environment, thanks to a powerful blower and its clever air recycling system.

A simple pull-switch (to start and stop the blower) allows for an instant start of the cooling and an instant stop of it.

The backpack allows for a bigger cooling capacity (2 kilograms of ice-packs) without the problem of overcooling or undercooling.

Also it dries the air (catching humidity from it), so it allows for natural perspiration (dry perspiration is the body natural cooling power).

And when not in use, the cold packs are kept cold and ready for several hours, thanks to the insulated container.

Finally, the 10 ice packs are conveniently assembled into two cartridges, for an easy removal, freezing and reload.
